CNC Machining for Robotic End-Effector Components

Global Industrial Automation OEM, Germany

Aluminum CNC machining for robotic end-effector components, with attention to mounting geometry, pneumatic connections, fixturing, and inspection.

Account owner: PiPrecision Engineering Team

The Challenge

Robotic end-effector components bring together mounting faces, pneumatic connections, and features that locate the gripper or tooling. These interfaces need to remain consistent with the assembly drawing so that mating parts can be fitted without relying on adjustment at every connection. The manufacturing challenge was to plan the machining and inspection of the aluminum components around those interfaces. Particular attention was needed at perpendicular faces, fitting locations, and features produced in different setups.

Our Solution

The machining approach used dedicated tooling and workholding to locate the aluminum components consistently. Critical dimensions were identified from the drawing so that machining checks and final inspection addressed the features that mattered to assembly. For this type of robotic end-effector, the review covers the mounting datum, threaded and pneumatic connections, and access for both cutting tools and measuring equipment. Inspection coverage and production quantities are agreed for the project rather than inferred from a general capacity figure.
